NDI plugin for OBS Studio
DistroAV (formerly OBS-NDI) is the free, open-source OBS NDI plugin for receiving, transmitting and routing video and audio over IP. Connect OBS Studio to cameras, computers, production systems and other NDI-enabled devices across your network.

Bring NDI video and audio into OBS Studio
OBS-NDI adds native-style NDI inputs, outputs and source-level routing to OBS Studio. NDI feeds appear alongside traditional sources, while programs, scenes and compatible sources can be transmitted to other NDI-enabled applications and devices.
Receive NDI sources
Add video and audio from NDI-enabled cameras, computers, applications and production systems directly into an OBS scene.
Transmit the OBS program
Send the main OBS program output over NDI for monitoring, recording, distribution, remote production or use in another application.
Output sources & scenes
Apply an NDI Filter to a compatible source or scene and transmit it independently from the main program output.
Three ways to use NDI in OBS Studio
Receive a feed, transmit your whole program, or publish a single source - OBS-NDI gives you input, program output and dedicated output in one plugin.
NDI Source
Receive NDI video and audio in OBS Studio. NDI Source works like a traditional OBS source - add it to a scene, pick an available NDI sender and use the feed in a stream, recording or live event.
- Receive video from another production computer
- Add an NDI-enabled camera to an OBS scene
- Capture compatible presentation or graphics software
- Bring a remote production feed into OBS
- Share video between OBS installations on the same network
NDI Output
Transmit the main OBS video and audio output over NDI. NDI Output makes the complete program feed available to compatible applications, production systems, monitors, recorders and other devices on the network.
- Send the final OBS program to another computer
- Feed a network-based monitor or multiview system
- Route OBS into a separate recording workflow
- Pass a finished feed to another NDI application
- Connect OBS to a larger live production environment
NDI Filter
Transmit an individual source or scene over NDI. Also called NDI Dedicated Output, the NDI Filter provides source-level output independently from the main program - expose one camera, media source, graphics source or scene.
- Send a clean camera feed without overlays
- Share a dedicated scene with another system
- Separate program and clean outputs
- Route individual media sources across the network
- Create independent feeds for remote contributors

Live streaming
Bring network cameras and production feeds into OBS, then send the finished program to other systems without rebuilding around extra capture devices.
Broadcast & live events
Connect OBS to NDI control rooms, presentation systems, graphics computers, confidence monitors, recorders and contribution devices.
Churches & houses of worship
Route cameras, lyrics, presentation computers, graphics and program feeds between production stations over existing network infrastructure.
Education & training
Share lecture feeds, presentation computers, demonstration stations and classroom video between OBS installations and NDI systems.
Esports & gaming
Move observer feeds, player cameras, graphics, clean feeds and program outputs between production computers.
Corporate video
Connect conference rooms, presentation systems, remote production computers and streaming workstations without a single physical video path.
Podcasts & multi-cam studios
Receive camera feeds from multiple systems and distribute clean or produced outputs to recording, monitoring and remote tools.
AV integration
Add OBS Studio to an existing NDI environment as an input, program output or source-level video endpoint.
System requirements
Confirm your system meets these before installing OBS-NDI. The NDI 6 Runtime must be installed separately when it is not already present.

OBS-NDI and DistroAV
DistroAV is the current name of the project formerly known as OBS-NDI. It was renamed from OBS-NDI to DistroAV in June 2024, following a request from the OBS Project to remove “OBS” from the plugin name. The purpose has not changed - it still provides NDI integration for OBS Studio. If you are searching for the OBS-NDI plugin, install the current DistroAV release rather than an outdated package published under the former name.
